Billabong

We managed the production of multiple seasons of Billabong virtual clothing for PlayStation Home, working with a virtual retailer. Our responsibilities included internal and external development, client liaison and brand compliance, as well as the creation of a virtual storefront reflecting Billabong’s physical store design.

The collections brought familiar clothing into an environment where people could dress their avatars and spend time together. Sony’s March 2013 Home update gives a snapshot of the range: shirts, shorts, hats, shoes, dresses and swimwear were all represented. Later updates continued to introduce new pieces, documenting the regular flow of clothing into the virtual store.

That seasonal approach made this an ongoing production relationship. The work combined coordination of artists and external suppliers with the need to keep the digital clothing and retail setting consistent with the brand. The storefront was another part of that work, carrying Billabong’s visual identity into a place people could visit in Home.

The project sits alongside our Wrangler clothing work and Audi virtual spaces, each applying a different part of a real-world brand to a shared digital environment.
