From autumn 2020 into spring 2021, we worked with Edinburgh College of Art’s animation department to explore how its archive could become a resource for new creative work. Supported by Creative Informatics’ Creative Horizon programme, the project combined film digitisation with an interactive animation studio for virtual and augmented reality.
During 2020–2021, we developed The Reality Lab, a proof-of-concept mixed reality teaching platform supported by Innovate UK. It addressed a problem made urgent by lockdown: how to deliver practical lessons remotely when students could no longer access specialist spaces or equipment, such as a science laboratory or an artist’s studio.
In July 2018, we announced Square Slice Studios’ creative partnership with Magic Leap, bringing years of conversations and creative development into public view. The venture brought us together with author Grant Morrison to develop entertainment content specifically for Magic Leap’s mixed reality platform.
