We provided technical expertise to Blazing Griffin for its 2016 release of The Ship: Remasted, with a particular focus on the development of a new AI system.
Remasted revisited The Ship: Murder Party, the 2006 game built around a distinctive multiplayer premise. Aboard a series of luxury 1920s cruise ships, each player is assigned a passenger to hunt while someone else is hunting them. The setting turns a voyage into a game of observation, suspicion and carefully chosen opportunities.
That premise gives character behaviour a central place in the experience. Players need to watch the people around them while pursuing their own target, making the behaviour of passengers part of how the game is read and played. Our contribution focused on AI development within Blazing Griffin’s wider remake project.
The original version of this portfolio entry was written during the game’s Early Access period. Steam now records its release date as 31 October 2016. The project remains an example of our technical work supporting another development studio on an established game property.
