We helped found and set up VEEMEE’s virtual world development studio in central Edinburgh, hiring and training a team of 20 people. Our responsibilities included studio and project management, technical direction, client relationships and the coordination of external production teams and outsourced personnel.
Securing public funding for the studio was part of that work. We prepared and submitted multiple successful Scottish Enterprise grant applications on VEEMEE’s behalf.
PlayStation Home provided an important setting for this work. Sony’s online world combined social spaces with games and virtual items. Its February 2010 overview described a platform that had grown to more than 50 spaces and over 100 games, with new content arriving each week. That mix created opportunities for both original entertainment and branded experiences.
Our work at VEEMEE spanned multiple projects and clients, including Audi, Billabong, Wrangler, Sega and Sony. It brought the day-to-day work of building a studio together with the delivery of individual projects, supporting internal teams while also managing contributions from outside the studio.
Several of those projects have their own entries here: Audi Virtual World, Billabong and Wrangler. Together, they show the range of production involved, from virtual environments and games to clothing collections and retail spaces.
