Sudoku Sprint Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2025-11-25
Sudoku Sprint is published by Insurgent Studios Limited ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect through the Sudoku Sprint game and related services, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. By playing Sudoku Sprint you agree to the practices outlined below. If you do not agree, please do not install or play the game.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be communicated through an in-app notice. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
1. Data We Collect
Sudoku Sprint is a hyper-casual, offline-friendly game that does not require an account or login. We collect only the limited data needed to operate core features, show ads, and understand aggregate engagement.
1.1 Gameplay and Device Data (Usage Statistics)
- Basic telemetry about how you interact with the game (for example level progression, run length, error counts, and ad views). These events are logged anonymously and never include personally identifiable information (PII).
- Device and app diagnostics such as operating system version, language, screen resolution, crash logs, and performance metrics.
- Approximate location derived from your device's locale or IP address. We use this only to determine if regional privacy laws (such as GDPR or UK GDPR) apply. We do not collect precise GPS data.
1.2 Advertising Identifiers
- Mobile advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID on Android, Identifier for Advertisers on iOS) and contextual information needed for Google AdMob to serve ads. These identifiers allow us to limit ad frequency, measure ad performance, and comply with consent choices.
1.3 Consent, Settings, and Local Storage
- Your consent decision (accepted, rejected, limited, underage) and related age-gate response. This is stored locally using the app's preferences system so we can honor your choice on subsequent sessions.
- Debug or developer toggles that you choose to enable inside the game. These remain on your device and are not transmitted unless analytics is enabled with your consent.
1.4 Support and Feedback
- If you contact us directly (for example via email) we may receive the information you provide voluntarily, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
2. How We Use Data
We use the data listed above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve Sudoku Sprint, including balancing gameplay, tuning difficulty, and fixing bugs.
- Show ads (including rewarded ads) through Google AdMob and measure ad delivery.
- Honor regional privacy requirements, manage consent, and determine whether we may show personalized ads or collect analytics.
- Detect, prevent, or address security issues, abuse, or violations of our terms.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate important information about the game.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We do not build personal profiles, and we do not combine gameplay analytics with data from other apps or services.
3. Advertising, Analytics, and SDKs
Sudoku Sprint relies on a small set of third-party SDKs to deliver ads and basic analytics. These partners act as data processors on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy terms.
- Google AdMob (googleadservices.com and related domains) — provides interstitial and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and engagement metrics to deliver contextual or personalized ads depending on your consent status.
- Google Mobile Ads User Messaging Platform (UMP) — surfaces the consent dialog required for GDPR/UK GDPR. UMP stores your consent status and may contact Google servers to validate region and show the correct form.
- Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous gameplay telemetry (such as session length, level outcomes, and ad views) to help us understand aggregate performance. Analytics collection is disabled until you grant consent, and remains limited when you reject non-essential data collection or if you indicate you are under 16.
These SDKs may process data on servers located outside your home country (including the United States and European Union). They only collect data necessary to provide their services and are configured to respect your consent selection.
4. Consent and Controls
We show a combined age gate and consent dialog on first launch and whenever law requires a new decision. The flow works as follows:
- You confirm whether you are under 16 years old (the minimum digital-consent age we target).
- You choose between:
- Accept all — enables personalized ads and full analytics;
- Reject non-essential — limits analytics and only shows non-personalized, contextual ads;
- Manage/More options (when provided by UMP) — allows granular control per purpose.
- If you dismiss the dialog without choosing, we default to rejected/non-personalized processing so you can keep playing.
You can revisit this decision at any time via Settings → "Ad consent & privacy." Changing your selection updates the SDKs on the next launch. Under-16 selections always result in child-directed treatment and non-personalized ads.
5. Children's Privacy
Sudoku Sprint is designed for a broad audience but is not targeted at children under 13. We still apply GDPR/UK GDPR child protections globally by:
- Treating any user who identifies as under 16 as under the age of digital consent.
- Requesting only contextual ads and disabling personalized analytics for underage users.
- Avoiding collection of PII such as names, email addresses, or exact locations inside the game.
If we learn that we unintentionally collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us using the information in Section 9 to request removal.
6. Data Retention and Security
- Gameplay analytics retained in Firebase are kept for up to 14 months, after which they are aggregated or deleted automatically.
- Local preferences (consent state, settings, progress) remain on your device until you delete the app or clear its storage.
- Support emails are retained only as long as necessary to handle your request and to maintain reference records.
- We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls, to protect data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
Our service providers operate globally. When data is processed outside of your jurisdiction we rely on legally recognized transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) offered by Google. By playing Sudoku Sprint you consent to the transfer of your data to countries that may have data-protection rules different from those in your country of residence.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as:
- Accessing, updating, or correcting your data.
- Objecting to or restricting processing.
- Withdrawing consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
- Requesting deletion or portability of your data.
Because the game does not maintain player accounts, most data is anonymous or tied only to your device. If you would like to exercise any rights, contact us using the details below and provide enough information to allow us to verify your device or gameplay session. We will respond within one month (or the shorter period required by applicable law).
